A pedal pull was one of the many activities at the recent Grant County 4-H Achievement Days. There were 53 contestants in the event.

THE VFW BEAN BAG LEAGUE hosted a tournament Saturday, August 24. John and Ashlie Schweitzer, pictured at right, of Milbank donated a handcrafted set of bean bag boards which were raffled off. The raffle raised $200 with all proceeds going to the It Only Takes a Spark cancer walk.
THE VFW MEMBERSHIP DINNER was conducted Wednesday, August 14, at the Lantern Inn in Milbank with 21 members present. JoAnn Hoeke presented membership pins to, left to right, Judy Frerichs-30 year pin, Ruth Gleason-45 year pin, Hoeke, and Myrna Bell-25 year pin.
Ortonville Area Health Services (OAHS) has been recognized by the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) for superior performance in quality and patient safety as part of MHA’s Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN).
Whetstone Valley Electric Cooperative (WVEC), based in Milbank, will receive a loan of $7,364,000 to be utilized for rural electric infrastructure improvements. The loan will be administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Students at St. Lawrence School will be met by some new teachers this school term. Tina Dreis, left, has taken the third grade responsibilities; Shelly Loehrer, center, will head up kindergarten, and Vanessa Brehmer, right, is the new teacher for preschool.
Becky Hubsch of Summit was recently honored by Associated School Boards of South Dakota (ASBSD) with the organization’s community service award for her commitment to enhancing the Summit School District. Hubsch is the district’s business manager.
THE CORONA CLASS OF 1969 staged a 50-year class reunion Wednesday, August 14, at the home of Tom and Linda Pauli of Milbank. Twelve of the graduating class of 20 were present.
