MPD Urges Safe Driving During Drive Sober Program
Officers with the Milbank Police Department (MPD) remind local motorists to drive safely during the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, which is going on now.
According to Jake Folk, Milbank police officer, the local officers are teaming up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, to reduce the number of impaired drivers on the roadway.
The national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign started last week and continues through Monday, September 2. The program includes the Labor Day weekend, one of the busiest holidays of the year regarding vehicular travel.
Impaired driving is already a part of every officer’s shift, Folk noted. However, officers and agencies will be stepping up enforcement efforts during the designated dates to ensure all motorists reach their destination safely.
