City Storm Shelter $1.2 Million Grant
City of Milbank Receives Grant
for $1.2 Million
The City of Milbank officials received notification that it has been approved for a $1.2 million grant through a combination of federal and state monies to construct a storm shelter in Lake Farley Park. The City of Milbank must complete a 10 percent match on the project.
The facility must meet certain criteria. It is planned as a 1,445 square foot concrete slab construction structure. It will have adequate space for up to 164 people to take shelter in the event of a storm.
The process for application began two year ago and was facilitated through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program grant.. The exact location for the new storm shelter is not yet determined.
