Residents of Grant County, as well as visitors, are welcome to stroll the foyers of the Grant County Courthouse this holiday season to enjoy the festive entries in this year’s Festival of Trees. 
 
“I am excited and grateful to celebrate the Christmas season with the display of 19 beautifully decorated trees by service organizations from within the county,” said Karen Layher, county administrator/commission assistant. Members of the local organizations have set up beautifully decorated trees following a variety of themes. 
 
Participating groups are Northern Lights 4-H, Saddle Pals 4-H, Grant County Library, Milbank American Legion Auxiliary, State Line 4-H Club, Kountry Kids 4-H Club, Milbank VFW Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters, Stockholm-Strandburg American Legion Auxiliary, St. William’s Cancer Walk Team, Junior Busy Bees 4-H Club, Emanuel Lutheran Sunday School, Boy Scout Troop #45, Visiting Neighbor Program, Grant County 4-H Junior Leaders, Milbank School FFA Chapter, Building Our Families, Educators Rising, Avera Hospice and Home Health, Young Explorers 4-H Club and Valley Queen Cheese.
 
Some of the displays will provide collection points to benefit various charitable organizations. 
 
The display is open for viewing Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of holidays.  
 
The courthouse will also be open during the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce standstill parade of lights and tree lighting ceremony, Saturday, December 2. The courthouse staff will host an annual public open house on Friday, December 15, with coffee and homemade treats.
