Offered by GCDC, MACC
The Grant County Development Corporation (GCDC) has partnered with the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) to provide a Remote Work 101 training on developing and enhancing remote-able work. The one-hour training will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 17, at the Milbank Visitor’s Center.
The training covers topics related to remote, hybrid and flexible work. Dr. Kristi Bockorny, associate professor of management at Northern State University (NSU) and Lindsey Huber, instructor of management information systems at NSU, will present the Three Pillars of Remote Work. They will explore best practices for how technology can be utilized to create relationships of trust, communication and productivity between employers and workers.
“The presentation will help businesses around Milbank explore the opportunities of being proactive to the nearly 87% workers considering a job change to remote or hybrid remote roles,” said Krista Atyeo-Gortmaker, GCDC executive director.
Atyeo-Gortmaker notes that a sandwich generation of later parenting, the responsibilities of caring for aging parents and South Dakota weather adding to unusual school day schedules is seeking a flexibility that technology can offer. “With trust, good communications and productivity practices, remote work can provide the benefits of remote work for our Milbank businesses,” said Atyeo-Gortmaker.
