Communities Present Many Halloween Activity Options
The members of many area organizations have been preparing a variety of fun Halloween activities for all ages.
Longtime favorites include the annual Treat Street, organized by the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce and Firemen’s Safety Stop, hosted by the members of Milbank Fire and Rescue and its auxiliary.
Treat Street will be Tuesday, October 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Milbank’s Main Street. Area businesses and organizations will set up tables and displays to ramp up the excitement of Halloween for the families of young children.
In conjunction with Treat Street, the Milbank firemen will host the Safety Stop at the firehall Tuesday, October 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. The 30th annual safety stop will include a costume contest at 7 p.m. with awards for cutest, scariest and most original construes. Winning coloring contest posters will be displayed and children can register for prizes. The firemen accept goodies donated for the event starting at noon that day. Valley Queen Cheese and Ol’ Mill Meats also contribute snacks for the trick-or-treaters who stop in.
Those who want to hit all the scariest spots on Halloween will want to include St. William’s Care Center between 3 and 5 p.m.; Barbie Halloween at Avantara Milbank and Wellshire Park Place from 4 to 5 p.m.; Darcie’s Home Care from 4 to 7 p.m.; Avera Milbank from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and Peaceful Pines (formerly Koch Senior Living) from 6 to 8 p.m. Some also will have photo booths set up.
Members of the community of South Shore will host an adult haunted house on Friday and Saturday, October 27 and 28, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. The event is in the South Shore Old School. A haunted house for children will be open in the same location on Sunday, October 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Adults may want to check out the Halloween party at The Pump 2.0 on Saturday, October 28. The party begins at 8 p.m. and includes cash prizes and a costume contest.
