MHS Students to Play in All-State Orchestra
Three of the four Milbank High School students who auditioned for the South Dakota All-State Orchestra, were selected. They will join other musicians from across the state in a performance of the South Dakota All-State Orchestra/Choir concert on Saturday, October 29, at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls at 7 p.m.
Milbank students who auditioned in Tea on Thursday, October 13, were Veronica Fonder, sophomore, violin 2; Merik Junker, senior, general percussion and mallets; Joe Schulte, junior, violin 2, and Rachel Schulte, junior, violin 1.
The South Dakota High School Activities Association released the list of those selected the next day. Among them were Rachel Schulte, violin (chair 13); Joe Schulte, violin (chair 25), and Merik Junker, general percussion (chair four).
The students are instructed by Elizabeth Schulte (private strings instructor) and Susan Karels (grades six through 12 band), with assistance from Deb Rausch.
