Banded Bird Contest

The winner of a Remington 870 Express 12-gauge shotgun in the fourth annual Banded Bird contest was Dick Skoog, center. Presenting the gun are, left to right, Dan Sorenson, an owner of S&D OneStop, where hunters could turn in their bands, and Grant County Pheasants Forever (GCPF) members Aaron Micko, Darin Mertens and Pat Blauert. Skoog reported that he shot the banded bird on the Dennis Skoog wildlife production area, named in honor of his brother. The gun was presented on Dennis’ birthday, but Dick Skoog donated it back to the sponsoring organization with instructions to give it to a youth hunter. Members of the GCPF drew from among the youth who had turned in bands during the contest and had representative, Jacob Robinson, present the gun to Luke Nadeau of Hastings, MN. The Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce is a cosponsor for the Banded Bird contest each year.
