Farm and Home Show, Farmers
Appreciation Breakfast Scheduled

The public is invited to attend the 73rd annual Grant County Farm and Home Show at the Milbank Armory on Friday, January 14, and Saturday, January 15. The show is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Admission is free, and those who attend can see the products and visit with the show vendors featuring the areas of implements and equipment, seed, housing, insurance, banking and service organizations. There will also be vendors with food booths.
Many of the vendors have ads inside this issue and will be awarding door prizes throughout the event.
The event will also include the local crops show. Area producers will enter samples of grains in 22 classes, forages in 10 classes, plus potatoes and eggs. Every exhibitor will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Ol’ Mill Buck prize for adults and youth. The public can view the entries and see which samples were rated as winners by the judges.
The annual farmers appreciation breakfast will be Saturday, January 15, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Milbank Visitor Center. Active and retired farmers are invited to get their free tickets to the meal by contacting the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce office.
Those who attend the farmers appreciation breakfast will hear from two speakers beginning at 9:30 a.m. The first is Jack Davis, SDSU Extension crops business management field specialist, who will present 2022 Realign for Success, A Look at Input Costs. Dr. Jonathan Kleinjan, SDSU Extension agronomist, will present Agronomy 101, Lessons Learned in 2021.
The annual Lego contest is expected to draw many participants in age divisions from four years to adult. Participants will check in at the Milbank Elementary School lunchroom at 9:30 a.m., and the contest will begin at 10 a.m. Contestants will have 30 minutes to complete their projects. The top entries in each age division will win prizes donated by the Grant County 4-H Leaders and the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce. Spectators will vote for the people’s choice award winner, sponsored by Whetstone Transfer.
