Treat Street Changes

Treat Street Becomes
Trunk or Treat at
School Parking Lot

Those who are looking forward to Milbank’s annual Treat Street event are in for a few changes this year, according to Laurie Folk, executive director of the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are excited to announce that Treat Street will be called Trunk or Treat this year, and it will be at the Milbank High School parking lot,” she said. The event will be on Thursday, October 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Folk says the change of venue is primarily for improved overall safety for the children and their parents. Each year, approximately 1,000 youth dress up in their Halloween costumes and tour the booths set up by local businesses.
Those businesses and groups that are Trunk or Treat participants are asked to get into the Halloween spirit and dress the part as well as set up either a trunk or table as a booth where they can distribute candy and treats. Currently, Folk plans to line up the booths starting in the west end of the school parking lot and wrap them around on the south edge.
Any business, group, church or family that wants to set up a booth should call or email Folk at the chamber office, 605-432-6656 or membershipdirector@milbanksd.com.
