Three Milbank Students Chosen for All-State Band

Milbank High School will be represented by three musicians in the 73rd annual South Dakota All-State Band event on Thursday through Saturday, March 23 to 25. The students chosen to participate from this community are Ellie Neugebauer, Joe Schuelte and Rachel Schulte.
J. Schulte was chosen as the second chair euphonium. R. Schulte was selected as the 14th chair clarinet. Both Schultes are high school juniors and are the children of Dave and Elizabeth Schulte.
Neugebauer, a senior, was selected as the 19th chair clarinet. She is the daughter of Justin and Pam Neugebauer.
All-State Band will be staged at Sioux Falls O’Gorman High School. The bands will be under the direction of Andrew Boysen from the University of New Hampshire and Robert Sheldon, a composer and conductor from Florida.
Participants for the event were selected through statewide competitive auditions. The auditions were conducted at six audition centers throughout the state during January. The four All-State adjudicators traveled around the state to each center to select the top high school musicians in the state for the exclusive band.
Susan Karels, band director, will accompany the Milbank students to Sioux Falls. Deb Rausch has assisted with lessons leading up to this point.
