State Poetry Contest Open for Youths
The Louine Schaufler youth poetry contest, hosted by the South Dakota State Poetry Society, is open for submissions until Sunday, March 1. All South Dakota middle school and high school students are eligible to enter the contest for free. The theme for the contest is Growing Up in South Dakota.
Prizes awarded will be first place, $75; second place, $50, and third place $25. The contest will be separated into two catagories, middle school and high school entries.
Students may submit up to three poems and can be about anything that relates to the theme.
Judging will be conducted by members of the South Dakota State Poetry Society board.
