State’s Republicans to Vote in Gubernatorial Runoff Election
Registered Republicans from Grant County and Roberts County, as well as their peers across the state, will go to the polls in the state’s first gubernatorial runoff election after none of that party’s candidates for governor succeeded in garnering the required 35 percent of the vote in the primary election in June.
Larry Rhoden, sitting governor, and challenger, Toby Doeden, were the top two vote-getters in the Primary Election on June 2. Therefore, theirs are the names that are on the runoff election ballot.
The runoff election will be Tuesday, July 28, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The county auditors have published the polling places in the legal notices section of this issue. The sample ballot is also printed within these pages.
The winner of the runoff election will face Democratic candidate Dan Ahlers in the General Election in November.
Absentee voting in the runoff election began on June 12 and concludes on election day. In Grant County or Roberts County, any absentee ballots must be received at the auditor’s office by 3 p.m. on the day of the runoff election. Deadlines may differ by county.
