at PPE Color Run Fundraiser
The public is invited to support the Parents Promoting Education (PPE) group as hosts the annual color run fundraiser on Thursday, September 25.
The elementary students will participate in the color run at different times according to their ages. Preschool and junior kindergarten kids will dash through the course in the Milbank Elementary School parking lot beginning at 10:30 a.m. The lot will be closed to traffic during the event.
The older kids will participate in the afternoon, with the third grade students at 1 p.m.; kindergarten at 1:15 p.m.; fourth grade at 1:30 p.m. first grade at 1:45 p.m.; second grade at 2 p.m., and fifth grade at 2:15 p.m.
The public is encouraged to attend and cheer for the kids. Representatives of local businesses will throw or squirt the color onto the student torso areas as they run or walk past. All students get to participate regardless if they receive any donations in the fundraising.
PPE is a parent sponsored, parent led organization whose mission is to support the students and staff of the Milbank Elementary School. Funds raised directly support the students and staff through various events and services.
So far this year, the group has purchased four tetherball poles and balls. Members displayed balloons during the school open house and the first day of school. They welcomed teachers back with a raffle of prizes, and purchased more non-traditional seating for two classrooms.
Upcoming events include the National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School event in October, and partnering with Grant County Public Library.
Any parent or guardian of an elementary student is welcome to be part of PPE. The group meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the elementary lunchroom to discuss and make decisions on what works best for the school.
