NOTICE AND CALL FOR BIDS
CITY OF MILBANK
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Milbank, Grant County, South Dakota will receive competitive bids for 2020 for street overlay material and road base material as follows:
SCHEDULE #1: 750 tons, more or less, hot mix bituminous material, picked up by the City.
SCHEDULE #2: 5,800 tons of asphalt, more or less, machine laid on designated streets, and avenues at direction of the city street department.  Preparatory street sweeping to be provided by contractor. All edges to be raked and feathered. Ambient temperature of 50 degrees required before application.
SCHEDULE #3: 1,500 tons of crushed granite base material, more or less, to be delivered to the city. This material is to meet the requirements of the SDDOT Roads and Bridges Manual Section 882.2 Table 1. 
SCHEDULE #4: 1,500 tons of aggregate base course material, more or less, shall be crushed aggregate conforming to the SDDOT Roads and Bridges Manual Section 882.2 Table 1, to be delivered to the city or 1,500 tons of aggregate base course material, more or less, shall be crushed aggregate conforming to MNDOT class 5 gradation requirements, Standard Specifications for Construction, 2000 Edition, to be delivered to the City.  
SCHEDULE #5: 28,000 square yards, more or less as determined by the city, cold asphalt milling. 26,500 square yards of existing surface of the pavement shall be removed by milling a depth of two inches. 1,500 square yards of existing surface of the pavement shall be removed by milling a depth of four inches. The milled surface shall be free from detrimental ridges or grooves. Loose material resulting from the milling shall be immediately picked up and hauled to a location as determined by the miller. This bid shall include any additional work that is required to mill around manholes and water valves.
All bids must be accompanied by a Certified Check, Cashier’s Check or Bank Draft in the amount of five (5%) percent of the total bid. Said security to be made payable to the City of Milbank and to be drawn on a State or national Bank domiciled within the State of South Dakota. Said security will be retained by the City of Milbank in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter in a contract when notified of the awards. Bid bond in the amount of ten (10%) percent of the total bid may be submitted with the bid in place of the security.
Bids will be received up to the hour of 9:00 a.m. on March 5, 2020 at the City Offices, 1001 East Fourth Avenue, Suite 301, Milbank, South Dakota.  Bids will be opened at that time. Consideration of bids will take place at the City Council meeting 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020.
The City of Milbank reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive irregularities and make award(s) as deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Milbank.
