Library Urges Participation in
Christmas at Courthouse Park

Businesses, church congregations, organizations and individuals are once again welcome to create a lighted display that will illuminate the courthouse park. The event is sponsored by the Grant County Public Library.
“Christmas lights are a favored holiday tradition and the season is about joy and togetherness,” said Jody Carlson, library director.
There is no charge for groups or individuals to participate. However, they must provide their own materials, times, and efforts to keep up a quality lighted display. Anyone wishing to participate should contact the library at 605-432-6543 no later than Monday, November 22, and indicate the space needed.
Participants will be given a spot in the courthouse park that can range from 12’ x 12’ or larger in length to accommodate lighted trailers from Milbank’s Parade of Lights. Displays must be a seasonal/holiday theme or greeting. “We encourage participants to have a sign with identifying name and it can be lit with lights and/or spotlights,” said Carlson. “Parade floats from the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights are welcome.”
The park will supply power and timers. Participants are responsible for extension cords to get to the power supply and making sure all display lights work.
Visitors will be able to view the decorations in a drive-by or walk-through style.
Let’s Keep the Cheer Here: Christmas at Courthouse Park will kick off on Saturday, November 27, after the Parade of Lights and will be lit daily from 5 to 9 p.m. through December 27.
