Library Summer Reading Kick-Off Event Set, May 29
The Grant County Public Library has many fun adventures planned for kids of all ages as a part of the 2024 Summer Reading Program. Sign-ups are underway now.
The program is set to begin Wednesday, May 29, and end Wednesday, July 10, for those under fifth grade and Wednesday, July 17, for those going into sixth through ninth grades.
Special events are held throughout the summer reading program on Wednesdays, with new and fun adventures planned for each week. Outdoor Adventures begins with a camping and horseback-themed evening on Wednesday, May 29. This event will be held at the 4-H Complex to accommodate the large group and is the only event not held at the library during the summer reading program.
At 5 p.m., the Milbank firemen will show their trucks, promote campfire safety and introduce their friend “Smokey the Bear,” celebrating his 80th birthday this year. There might be a few horses on site for children to see in the ring.
A hot-diggety-dog-dinner will be served for all Summer Reading Program participants and their families at 5:30 p.m. with the popular children’s musical performer Phil Baker leading campfire songs at 6:30 p.m.
First Interstate Bank and a Thrivent Action Grant support the kick-off event.
