Library Presents Vietnam: From a Soldier’s Perspective
The public is invited to a special presentation entitled, Vietnam: From a Soldier’s Perspective. The free presentation will be at the Grant County Public Library on Wednesday, November 13, at 1:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
According to Tammy Wollschla-ger, library director, a video and a slideshow of pictures will be shown as part of the presentation.
Local veterans, Bob Frink, Jim Hanson, Dennis Solberg and Noel Cummins will be the featured speakers. They will share their individual knowledge and experiences in connection with the Vietnam War. They are members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1054, which includes veterans from various branches of the military.
“Over 50 years has gone and many people haven’t heard about it from the veterans who served them,” commented Frink. “We’ll talk about what we did and do our best to answer all questions at the end of the presentation.”
The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1054, covers nine counties in NE South Dakota. They have given this presentation in many area schools including Milbank High School.
The library will have a display in honor of the Vietnam Veterans from Tuesday to Saturday, November 12 to 16. Those attending the presentation or visiting the display will be asked to sign up for a special commemorative door prize.
Each November, the Grant County Public Library highlights a specific war and the local men and women who served as a part of the local library’s November Remembers program. This year, the Vietnam War will be the focus of the program. Previous years’ presentations focussed on World War I, World War II and the Korean War.
