Jet Rodding
Continues in Milbank

Milbank city workers and crews from Hydro Klean began the annual sewer main cleaning, also known as jet rodding, early this week.
According to Dick Poppen, with the city wastewater department, the area that will be concentrated on this year is east of River Street to South Second Street and the area from Third Avenue to Seventh Avenue.
Poppen noted that the cleaning may create a vacuum in the mains that could cause toilets to splash and pull water from floor traps. To alleviate that action, residents should place a towel over their toilet and close the lid over it when the truck is in the area.
After the truck has finished its work in an area, residents should run water in all sinks, showers and tubs. Poppen recommends residents also dump a couple of gallons of water down all floor drains.
Any questions or problems may be addressed to Poppen at 605-880-0774.
