Grant County Republicans to Vote in Primary Election
Registered Republicans will head to the polls on Tuesday, June 2, to cast their votes in the Primary Election. There is no Primary Election ballot for the county’s Democrats. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the sample ballot as well as the list of polling places were published in last week’s Grant County Review.
The Primary Election ballot includes two candidates in the race for the Grant County sheriff. They are incumbent Jeremy Steffensen and challenger William “Bill” Newstrand.
Republican voters can cast their votes for two of five candidates for South Dakota House of Representative for District 4. The candidates are incumbents Dylan C. Jordan and Kent Roe. Challengers are Gary William Hudiburgh III, Ryan Kohl, and Fred Deutsch. The top two vote-getters will meet go up against candidates from other parties in the General Election in November.
In the race for a seat in the South Dakota Senate representing District 4, are incumbent Stephanie Sauder and challenger Timothy Begalka. The Republican voters may cast a ballot for one.
Statewide, Republicans voting in the Primary Election will be able to vote for either Justin McNeal or Mike Rounds for US Senator. They will also choose between Marty Jackley and James Bialota for US House of Representatives.
In the gubernatorial race, Republicans will determine by their votes whether Governor Larry Rhoden, or one of the challengers, Jon Hansen, Dusty Johnson, or Toby Doeden, will advance to the General Election in November.
