       March 23, 2020
The Grant County Commission met at 3 PM in an emergency session called by Chairman Mach per SDCL 7-7-2.1 by telephone conference with Commissioners Buttke, Mach, Street and Tostenson answering roll call. Commissioner Stengel was absent. Chairman Mach called the meeting to order. Chairman Mach stated he requested the meeting to ask for input on closing the courthouse to the public due to the COVID-19 virus. Also present were EM Director Kevin Schuelke, Auditor Layher and States Attorney Mark Reedstrom who provided reports to the Commission.
Motion by Tostenson and seconded by Street to close the Courthouse to the public effective Tuesday, March 24th until further notice with the department heads to determine staggered staff scheduling with reporting to the Auditor on the schedule. Roll call called. Buttke: aye, Street: aye, Tostenson: aye; Mach: aye. Stengel: absent. Motion carried 4-0.
All offices will be staffed including the Clerk of Courts and the States Attorney Office who remain open for the court system. The contact information for each office is posted on the website and the Courthouse entrance doors.
Motion by Tostenson and seconded by Buttke to authorize the VSO Scott Malimanek to assist veterans by working from home utilizing his cell phone. Roll call called. Buttke: aye, Street: aye, Tostenson: aye; Mach: aye. Stengel: absent. Motion carried 4-0.
It is the policy of Grant County, South Dakota, not to discriminate against the handicapped in employment or the provision of service.
The next scheduled meeting dates will be April 7, 14 (equalization) and 21, 2020 at 8 AM. Motion by Street and seconded by Buttke to adjourn the meeting. Roll call called. Buttke: aye, Street: aye, Tostenson: aye; Mach: aye. Stengel: absent. Motion carried 4-0. Meeting adjourned.
