Grant County Burn Ban Implemented October 1, 2024

A BURN BAN was implemented by the Grant County Commission, effective Tuesday, October 1. The action was taken in response to the extremely dry conditions in the county. Kevin Schuelke, Grant County emergency management director, noted that heavy precipitation early this year led to abundant vegetative growth. That, coupled with a late start on the harvest and a very dry September, has created conditions of extreme fire danger. 

 

The National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch Sunday September 29 and a red flag warning on Monday September 30 for a large region , including Grant and Roberts counties.
