Dr. Peter Reynen Returns to Milbank Medical Staff

Peter Reynen, MD, is returning to Milbank as a member of the Avera Medical Group Milbank staff. He will begin his duties September 1.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Reynen back to our team. He spent 15 years in Milbank, and his experience in care for the whole family, as well as emergency room medicine, will truly benefit our patients,” said Natalie Gauer, Milbank Area Hospital Avera administrator. “Many people will remember him, and we’re glad he chose to return to our community to serve patients on a full-time basis.”

Reynen began his medical career in Milbank in 1997, after completing his training and residency. He left in 2012, but in 2018 returned on a part-time basis serving as a hospitalist at the Milbank Area Hospital Avera while working at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. He also served as a family medicine physician at the Mitchell clinic. “Dr. Reynen is an extraordinary physician. We are blessed and welcome him back to our team. ” said Dr. Nanci Van Peursem, family medicine physician at Avera Milbank.

“I’m excited to continue my work. In many cases it’ll be with patients and families I already know, but I also look forward to providing care to new patients and families,” Reynen said. “While living away, I had many good experiences. However, Camille and I look forward to being back in Milbank.”

Reynen has also served as an associate clinical professor of medicine at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. He and his wife, Camille, have three adult children. When not seeing patients, Reynen enjoys bicycling, woodworking and playing guitar.

Dr. Reynen joins other Milbank providers, Kevin Bjordahl, MD; Nanci Van Peursem, MD; Dr. Paul Denna, MD; Dr. Tom Lechner; Dr. Regg Hagge; Lisa Bucklin, CNP and Betsy Van Lith, PA-C. He will also offer support to the satellite clinics that are located in Big Stone City, Revillo, Waubay, and Wilmot and served by Patrick Dreis, PA-C; Brenda Holscher, PA-C; Peggy Schuelke, CNP and Susan Leddy, CNP.
