Dollar General Considering Store Here

Dollar General Considering
Store at Former Shopko Site

Officials with Dollar General have confirmed that the company is in the due diligence phase in the process to potentially open an additional store at 1400 Morningside Drive and 14th St. in Milbank. The building formerly housed a Shopko Hometown store, but has been empty for several months.
“This means we are reviewing the opportunity to add a new store in the area, but we have not committed to doing so just yet,” commented Angela Petkovic, public relations, Dollar General Corporation. “Based on our current timeline, we anticipate to have a final decision on this by summer 2020.”
If the company proceeds with opening a store in Milbank, it would employ approximately six to 10 individuals, depending on the needs of the store, Petkovic said.
“Our customers are at the center of all that we do and meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority when choosing store locations,” Petkovic said. “The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10-minute drive.  We also take competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration.”
According to company representatives, Dollar General sells quality, name-brand and private brand merchandise such as foods, health and beauty products, home cleaning supplies, housewares, stationery, seasonal items and basic clothing. In addition to high quality private brands, Dollar General sells products from America's most-trusted brands.
