County Sets Public Hearing to Revise Land Use Rules

 

 

 

The Grant County Planning Commission and Board of Grant County Commissioners will hold a joint public hearing on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at the Grant County Courthouse located at 210 E. 5th Avenue, Milbank, SD. The public hearing is being held to take comments on a proposed amendment to Ordinance 2025-0A, an ordinance amending the Ordinance 2004-01, as amended (County’s Zoning Ordinance). All interested persons are encouraged to attend the public hearing in person and comment on the proposed Ordinance 2025-01A. After the public hearing, the Planning Commission may recommend approval to the Board of County Commissioners, with or without amendments.
 
The County Commission will hold first reading and set a second reading date for Ordinance 2025-01A.
 
The proposed Ordinance 025-01A will be made available for public inspection at the Grant County Auditor’s Office located at 210 E. 5th Avenue, Milbank, SD and on-line at http://association.1stdistrict.org/grant-county-board-of-adjustment/ pursuant to SDCL Section 11-2 and amendments thereto.
 
Written comments may be filed by mailing them to the Auditor at 210 E. 5th Avenue, Milbank, SD 57252 on or before noon on October 31, 2025.

Installed in the 1950s to ease parking conjestion in the downtown area, the meters genterated revenue for the city and encouraged shoppers to limit the amount of time spent parked in one place. After the city added public parking lots near Main Street the town’s leadership gradually reduced reliance on the meters, and then, in 1980 voted to remove them.
