Absentee Voting Begins in
Drainage Referred Election

Registered voters in Grant County have the option to vote in the referendum election on Tuesday, July 27, or to vote by absentee ballot or at the courthouse during business hours. Early voting became available on Friday, June 11.
Previously, the Grant County Commission approved two actions that were since referred to a vote of the people through efforts of the group, Grant County Citizens Who Care. One of the commission actions repealed the county drainage ordinance, and the second established a hydrologic alteration plan (HAP) as an addition to the flood plain ordinance.
The referred election will give the Grant County registered voters the opportunity to either uphold or overturn two recent changes the commission made to the drainage ordinance and flood plain ordinance. A majority “yes” vote will uphold the commission’s actions, and a majority “no” vote will overturn the commission’s actions. The two measures will be addressed in separate questions on the ballot.  A complete explanation was printed in the June 9 issue of the Grant County Review.
