More than five tons of food was distributed to Grant County residents at the fourth and final food give away hosted by the Grant County Christian Service Council.
The council purchased 7,112 pounds of food from Feeding SD at a cost of $777.60. Additionally, more than 3,000 pounds of food was donated by Feeding SD “ To date, this is the most food we have ever received from Feeding SD,” said Brenda Maass member of the council.
A total of 202 families received food and 55 volunteers from seven area churches, as well as community representatives from Kiwanis, Abbey of the Hills, Grant County 4-H, Ameriprise, St. William’s Care Center, Twin Valley Tire and Thaden Family Donuts.
“This was the last giveaway for the year, but we are working on securing dates for 2020,” said Maass. The first giveaway for next year will most likely be in May.
